At the moment, especially with Summer here, I am totally obsessing over the Clockface Body Oil which is featured in this Summer’s Fertilibox.
Let’s talk about the brand first: Clockface Beauty is 100% natural, organic and vegan, made in Yorkshire, which also happens to be the land where I grew up, not that I’m biased!
There’s no added water or emulsifiers, no parabens or silicone, no sulphates, synthetic chemicals or artificial fragrances, just 100% natural ingredients, pure and simple.
The products are also cruelty-free, Vegan Society registered, and with clear, honest labelling that reassures you what you’re feeding your skin is 100% natural, ethical and proven to make a difference.
The body oil was originally developed for post exercise to help relieve tired muscles, but there is a whole multitude of other uses I have since discovered, that also applies to any other organic body oil too (my other personal favourite is the Kora Organics Rosehip body oil).
The Clockface Body Oil has a combination of different natural ingredients that include clary sage and geranium, that produces a gorgeous, uplifting scent. So, without further ado, here’s how you can use it:
Body oil
To keep your skin moisturised all day long, apply the body oil to your skin after showering. It’s fast absorbing without leaving a greasy residue, and rich in antioxidants that will help reduce skin damage and ageing. Focus on areas like elbows and knees that may need extra hydration and use after exercise, when the oil works brilliantly to relieve muscle tension.
Massage oil
When your muscles are feeling tired and tight, use this body oil as your massage oil. It leaves your skin feeling hydrated and smooth. It’s calming and cooling and has natural healing properties. Aside from which you can use it on your partner or get them to give you a massage, encouraging the flow of feel good hormones and acting as an aphrodisiac. You can thank me later!
Bath oil
This is one of my favourite ways to use the oil, by adding a few drops to the bath and relaxing and unwinding before bed time, soothing away any stress and tension.
Stretch marks
The oil can be used as a treatment for your stretch marks, especially if you’re pregnant, when it’s safe to use as the ingredients are natural.
Body and lip exfoliator
Add some brown sugar to the oil and mix to create your own scrub you can use to get rid of dead skin cells and reveal fresh, dewy skin underneath.
Perfume
Press the oil in gently on your main pulse points that include the neck, wrists, behind the knee and behind the ears and look forward to the scent becoming more intense throughout the day.
Razor burn or cuts
The oil has anti inflammatory and cooling properties, making it ideal to place on skin that has been aggravated by shaving or any cuts.
Insect repellent
This is a great use if you’re travelling. Insects don’t like the feeling of oil on the skin and are more likely to stay away from you if your skin has been treated with the body oil first.
Facial oil
Because the oil and light and natural, it can be used on the face too without danger that it will clog up your pores and lead to congestion. I love to spread it on the palms of my hands and dab on to my face and neck before bed time.
As a facial oil, it promotes the production of collagen in the skin and increases elasticity while also working to diminish fine lines. It can also be used around the lips too, preventing those small lines developing there.
Makeup remover
I love using this to take off my eye and face make up whilst also benefiting my skin because of all the amazing ingredients. Your skin will feel hydrated, nourished, and clean.
Highlighter
Here’s a simple Summer trick for you! Simply sweep a small amount of oil on top of your makeup, focusing on your cheekbones, brow bone, down the bridge of your nose and on top of your cupid’s bow. You can use it on other areas like your shoulders and legs too, wherever you want to get that glow!
Hair treatment
You can apply the oil to your scalp and roots and massage it in. This can be added as a part of your nightly beauty routine – just make sure you wash your hair in the morning!
Dry split ends
Try rubbing a few drops onto the ends of your hair to help hydrate your dry parched strays.
Cuticles
Apply the oil to your cuticles regularly to soften the skin there and prevent it from drying.
Feet
You can apply the oil to you dry, cracked heels and feet before bed, putting fresh socks on over the top and keeping them on overnight. You’ll awaken to soft, smooth feet in the morning.
And as an extra bonus, you can even apply the oil to your pet’s paws to protect them too! Your pet will love you for it!
